This sail comes from a classic, well-ballasted, tall rig, with a very balanced helm. She's incredibly fast! The Crown 34 is a Canadian sailboat, designed by Hein Driehuyzen. They were only built for 5 years. Summer Wine was the last Crown built. The Crown 34 design was later developed into the San Juan 34 and the hull design used for the Sceptre 36. Summer Wine was built as a racing boat.
She was raced around the Salish Sea for years and, consequently, she is well known in the racing community. The current owners bought her in 2016. At that point she was much in need of a complete refit. That refit has almost been completed. They will be cruising her in and around the Salish Sea in the coming years and plan to sail her to Haida Gwaii and around Vancouver Island when they retire. Summer Wine is as good as they get in a good old boat.
